If Marxist theory and the Party within the historical meaning of the term do not change in the course of time, the physical organization of the militants, the formal party, inevitably undergoes the ebbs and flows of the confrontations between the classes: it grows and develops at the time of the ascension of the proletarian movement, whereas it remains limited to a microscopic size or even disappears during the long periods of counter-revolution, before reappearing when the historical conditions again become favorable to the communist proletarian struggle.

Si bien la teoría marxista (el partido histórico) no presenta ninguna flexibilidad en el tiempo, la organización física de los militantes comunistas (el partido formal) sufre inevitablemente los flujos y reflujos de la lucha entre las clases, desarrollándose en los períodos de efervescencia social y de ascenso del movimiento proletario de clase, resistiendo con fuerzas muy modestas en otros largos períodos de contrarrevolución y reacción, o simplemente desapareciendo de la escena para luego renacer cuando las condiciones de las luchas de clases hacen favorables el retorno a la lucha proletaria y comunista.
