وذكّر الاتحاد الدولي المسيحي للعمل على إلغاء التعذيب بأن استعمال المسدسات ذات الشحنة الكهربائية قيد التجربة الآن، وفق ما أفادت به الحكومة الفرنسية، في ثلاثة سجون، وذلك رغم الموقف الذي أبدته لجنة الأمم المتحدة لمناهضة التعذيب وهو أن استعمال أسلحة كهربائية غير قاتلة "يحدث آلاماً حادة تشكل نوعاً من أنواع التعذيب" وهو ما ينتهك المادتين 1 و16 من اتفاقية مناهضة التعذيب(27).

FIACAT pointed out that the use of tasers is currently, according to the French Government, under trial in three prisons, despite the position taken by the United Nations Committee against Torture, which has stated that the use of non-lethal electric weapons “causes severe pain constituting a form of torture”, in violation of articles 1 and 16 of the Convention against Torture.

La FIACAT recordó que, según el Gobierno francés, actualmente se experimenta la utilización de pistolas de descarga eléctrica en tres establecimientos penitenciarios, pese a la postura del Comité contra la Tortura que afirmó que la utilización de armas eléctricas no mortales "provoca un dolor agudo que constituye una forma de tortura", que vulnera los artículos 1 y 16 de la Convención .
