Nevertheless, the Committee remains gravely concerned at the alarmingly high rate of infant, child and maternal mortality, and the high incidence of major illnesses affecting children, including polio, malaria and diarrhoea as well as the low rate of immunization coverage in the country, particularly in the northern regions, and of malnutrition and the low rates of exclusive breastfeeding.

Sin embargo, el Comité sigue estando gravemente preocupado por la tasa alarmantemente elevada de mortalidad infantil y maternoinfantil y la elevada incidencia de enfermedades graves padecidas por los niños, entre otras la poliomielitis, el paludismo y la disentería, así como por la baja tasa de cobertura vacunal en el país, sobre todo en las regiones septentrionales y por la malnutrición y las tasas también bajas de lactancia materna exclusiva.

Il n’en demeure pas moins gravement préoccupé par le taux alarmant de mortalité infantile, postinfantile et maternelle et par la forte incidence des principales maladies dont les enfants sont atteints, à savoir la polio, le paludisme et la diarrhée, ainsi que par la faiblesse du taux de couverture vaccinale dans le pays, et surtout les régions du Nord, comme par la faible proportion d’enfants allaités exclusivement au sein.
