The invention relates to an improved mattress or the like comprising an inner spring assembly (1) from a used mattress or the like wherein said inner spring assembly has been stripped of its outer covering (6) of ticking and padding material, heat treated to provide stress relief to the components of said inner spring assembly (1) having received only partial stress relief or no stress relief when said assembly was new, and covered with new ticking and padding material.

Le procédé mis en oeuvre consiste à dégarnir ledit ensemble blocs-ressorts de son enveloppe (6) de couverture de coutil ou de son rembourrage, puis à effectuer un traitement thermique assurant un recuit de détente des composants dudit ensemble blocs-ressorts (1) qui n'ont subi qu'un recuit de détente partiel ou qui n'ont pas subi de recuit de détente lorsque l'ensemble était neuf et garni d'une nouvelle enveloppe de coutil et d'un nouveau rembourrage.
