Είχε όμως κληρωθεί κάποτε μέλος του πρυτανείου, δηλαδή του ανώτατου συλλογικού οργάνου της αθηναϊκής πολιτείας και, για μία ημέρα, διετέλεσε -σύμφωνα με το νόμο- επιστάτης, δηλαδή πρόεδρος αυτού του οργάνου [3], αμέσως μετά τη ναυμαχία των Αργινουσών (406 πΧ).

He was, however, once elected by lot member of the Prytaneum, i.e. the highest collective body of the Athenian city, and for one day he acted as its president, in accordance with the law, immediately after the naval battle of the Arginousses (406 BC).
