The Pharisees gave oral tradition equal authority to the written Word of God, while the Sadducees considered only the written Word to be from God. The Sadducees preserved the authority of the written Word of God, especially the books of Moses (Genesis through Deuteronomy).

Sa aspetong panrelihiyon, ang mga Saduseo ay mas konserbatibo sa isang pangunahing aspeto ng doktrina kaysa sa mga Pariseo. Binibigyan ng mga Pariseo na pantay na kapangyarihan ang tradisyon at ang nakasulat na Salita ng Diyos habang ang mga Saduseo naman ay itinuturing na ang Salita lamang ng Diyos ang inaprubahan ng Diyos.
