وإذ ينتقل التركيز إلى الانتخابات، فإنه يتعين أيضا إيلاء عناية مستمرة لكفالة الطابع السلمي لفترة ما بعد الانتخابات، علاوة على إيجاد علاج فعال للأسباب الجذرية للنزاع، والتي قد تؤدي، إن لم تعالج، إلى تقويض المكاسب الهامة التي حققها البلد في العقد الماضي.

As focus shifts towards the elections, continuing attention also needs to be given to ensuring that the post-election period will be peaceful, as well as tackling effectively the root causes of the conflict, which if left unaddressed will have the potential to reverse the important gains the country has made in the past decade.
