وبما أنه ثبت أن التماسك الاجتماعي عامل يخفف من أسباب الضعف، فإن المرء يتساءل إن كانت قوى العولمة تدمر التماسك الاجتماعي، أو تقوض أسسه على الأقل، متسببة في استبعاد اجتماعي وفي مختلف أشكال الفراغ التنظيمي وغيره من التغيرات السلبية التي تؤثر في نسيج المجتمع.

As the existence of social cohesion has proven to be a mitigating factor against the forces that lead to increased vulnerability, the question arises as to whether the forces of globalization are overwhelming or at least undermining social cohesion, leading to social exclusion, various forms of anomie and other negative changes affecting the fabric of society.

Dado que se ha demostrado que la cohesión social mitiga las fuerzas que hacen aumentar la vulnerabilidad, cabe preguntarse si las fuerzas de la globalización están aniquilando o, como mínimo, debilitando la cohesión social y, por ende, provocando exclusión social, diversas formas de anomia y otros cambios negativos que afectan al tejido de la sociedad.
