Anders als das traditionelle x86-BIOS, das außer der Partitionstabelle und dem Master-Boot-Record (MBR) nicht viel von dem Boot-Laufwerk weiß, kann EFI von FAT16- oder FAT32-formatierten Partitionen lesen und darauf schreiben.
