Wichtig sei, so der Sprecher des deutschen Presserates, Oliver Schlappat, dass hinter der Satire – und im Speziellen der Karikatur, also der bildlichen Form der Satire – immer eine Aussage stehe: «Solange hinter der Satire eine politische oder gesellschaftliche Kernbotschaft steht und solange niemand nur verhöhnt wird oder eine Religion lächerlich gemacht wird, bewegt sich Satire im Bereich dessen, was wir für akzeptabel halten.»

According to Oliver Schlappat, speaker of the German Press Council, it is important that behind satire – and in particular caricature, i.e. the pictorial form of satire – there is always a statement: "As long as there is a political or social core message behind satire and as long as no one is ridiculed or a religion is made ridiculous, satire moves in the area of what we consider acceptable".
