Es interesante también señalar que en las partes del tejido de la Síndone que se han podido examinar no se han hallado trazas de fibras de origen animal, respetando la ley mosaica que obliga a tener separada la lana del lino (Dt 22, 11); las únicas y poquísimas huellas de otras fibras encontradas en la tela son de algodón del tipo Gossypium herbaceum, difundido en Oriente Medio en tiempos de Cristo.
