في 2 آب/أغسطس 2000 عين الأمين العام، بالإشارة إلى قرار مجلس الأمن 1306 (2000) المتعلق بسيراليون والمعتمد في 5 تموز/يوليه 2000، فريقا من الخبراء لجمع معلومات بشأن ما يحتمل وقوعه من انتهاكات للتدابير المفروضة بموجب الفقرة 2 من القرار 1171 (1998) وبشأن الصلة بين تجارة الماس وتجارة السلاح وما يتصل بها من عتاد، وللنظر في مدى كفاية نظم مراقبة الحركة الجوية في المنطقة.

On 2 August 2000, in reference to Security Council resolution 1306 (2000) concerning Sierra Leone, adopted by the Council on 5 July 2000, the Secretary-General of the United Nations appointed a Panel of Experts to collect information on possible violations of the measures imposed by paragraph 2 of resolution 1171 (1998) and the link between trade in diamonds and trade in arms and related matériel, and to consider the adequacy of air traffic control systems in the region.

Le 2 août 2000, en référence à la résolution 1306 (2000) concernant la Sierra Leone, adoptée par le Conseil de sécurité le 5 juillet 2000, le Secrétaire général de l’Organisation des Nations Unies a constitué un Groupe d’experts chargé de rassembler des informations au sujet des violations éventuelles des restrictions visées au paragraphe 2 de la résolution 1171 (1998) ainsi que des liens entre le commerce des diamants et le commerce des armements et du matériel connexe, et d’examiner si les systèmes de contrôle de la navigation aérienne dans la région sont adéquats.
