Para utilizar por primera vez instalaciones destinadas a trabajar con organismos genéticamente modificados (OGM) y llevar a cabo este tipo de actividad es obligatorio comunicar previamente al Departament d’Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca i Alimentació, tanto si las actividades se llevan a cabo en confinamiento (laboratorio, invernadero, animalario, etc.) como si se pretende liberar material al medio ambiente sin finalidad comercial (ensayos al aire libre, ensayos clínicos, en granjas, etc.).
