وقد ركز دعم منظومة الأمم المتحدة في هذا الصدد على المجالات الأربعة التالية: تعزيز الوعي بأهمية التطورات العلمية والتكنولوجية بالنسبة للتنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية في البلدان النامية؛ وتيسير الوصول إلى الابتكارات التكنولوجية ونقلها وتكييفها ونشرها من خلال تطوير المهارات والمؤسسات والهياكل الأساسية؛ وتشجيع نقل التكنولوجيا من خلال التعاون فيما بين بلدان الجنوب، ثم توفير المعلومات المتعلقة بالمعاهدات والبروتوكولات الدولية المتصلة بالعلم والتكنولوجيا.

The United Nations system support in that regard has focused on the following four areas: promoting awareness of scientific and technological developments relevant to economic and social development in developing countries; facilitating access, transfer, adaptation and diffusion of technological innovation through skills, institutional and infrastructure development; promoting technology transfer through South-South cooperation; and providing information on international science and technology-related treaties and protocols.

L’appui du système des Nations Unies en la matière est centré sur quatre objectifs : faire connaître les avancées scientifiques et techniques susceptibles d’être utiles au développement économique et social des pays en développement; faciliter l’acquisition, le transfert, l’adaptation et la diffusion des nouvelles technologies en développant les qualifications, les institutions et les infrastructures; encourager les transferts de technologie dans le cadre de la coopération Sud-Sud, et fournir des informations sur les traités et les protocoles internationaux portant sur des questions scientifiques et techniques.
