Since the Habitats Directive (Directive 92/43/EEC(2)) already imposes a requirement for Finland to avoid a deterioration of the conservation status of wild forest reindeer, the Commission does not consider that there is any need for an update of the Habitats Directive in order to further strengthen the protection of wild forest reindeer.
