In response to the 1992 Law Society of British Columbia's report, Gender Equality in the Justice System, the Ministry of Attorney General established the position of Gender Equity Special Advisor with the responsibility to report to the Deputy Minister.

En réaction au rapport de 1992 de la Law Society of British Columbia (Barreau de la Colombie-Britannique) intitulé Gender Equality in the Justice System (L'égalité des sexes dans l'appareil judiciaire), le ministère du Procureur général de la Colombie-Britannique a désigné une conseillère spéciale pour l'égalité des sexes relevant du sous-ministre.
