The goal of the project was to determine the behaviour and biological effects of oil spilled in a freshwater marsh, the natural recovery rate of the habitat through bioremediation—that is, the breakdown of hydrocarbons by native plants and bacteria—and the effect of certain treatments and procedures on this natural recovery process.

Le projet avait pour objet de déterminer le comportement et les effets biologiques d'une masse de pétrole déversée dans un marais d'eau douce, le taux de récupération naturelle de l'habitat par la biorestauration-c'est-à-dire la dégradation des hydrocarbures par les végétaux et les bactéries indigènes—et l'effet de certains traitements et procédures sur ce processus naturel de récupération.
