“The Government of India has identified the need for a more holistic strategy for aquifer management, improving governance through water user associations, and focusing on rehabilitating and modernizing existing irrigation systems in critical areas for not only better management and efficiency of water resources, but also to help improve agricultural growth in the state,” said Nilaya Mitash, joint secretary, department of economic affairs, ministry of finance, government of India.

भारत सरकार के वित्त मंत्रालय के आर्थिक मामलों के विभाग में संयुक्त सचिव निलय मितेश ने कहा, “भारत सरकार ने जलभृत प्रबंधन (एक्विफ़र-प्रबंधन), जल-उपभोक्ता समितियों के ज़रिये संचालन में सुधार करने और महत्त्वपूर्ण क्षेत्रों में मौजूदा सिंचाई प्रणालियों के पुनर्वास और आधुनिकीकरण पर ध्यान देने के लिए एक सर्वांगीण रणनीति बनाने की ज़रूरत की पहचान की है। ऐसा करने से जल-संसाधनों के बेहतर प्रबंधन और इनकी कार्यकुशलता को ही नहीं, बल्कि राज्य में कृषि की संवृद्धि बढ़ाने में भी मदद मिलेगी।”
