The invention relates to a mechanism (l) for varying the valve stroke of an internal combustion piston engine to any rate between zero stroke and nominal stroke, where there is a valve actuating camshaft (27), the cam (28) of which is constantly in contact with the contact surface (24) of a single-arm rocker lever (19); the single-arm rocker lever (19) is pinned on a stationary pin (23) at one of its ends, and at the other rotating end a rocker pivot (9) is fitted using an axis parallel with the stationary pin (23), on which one end of the lifting rocker lever (6) is pinned, and at the other end a pressure surface (7) resting on the stem (4) of the actuated valve (2) is arranged.

Ledit mécanisme comprend un arbre à cames d'actionnement de soupapes (27), dont la came (28) est constamment en contact avec la surface de contact (24) d'un culbuteur à bras unique (19). Ledit culbuteur (19) est disposé sur un axe stationnaire (23) au niveau d'une de ses extrémités, et au niveau de l'autre extrémité rotative un pivot du culbuteur (9) est fixé au moyen d'un axe parallèle à l'axe stationnaire (23), sur lequel est placée une extrémité du culbuteur de levage (6), et au niveau de l'autre extrémité est disposée une surface de pression (7) reposant sur la tige de la soupape actionnée (2).
