Die funktionellen Ergebnisse nach hüftnahen Frakturen im höheren Lebensalter sind unbefriedigend.Bei der Vielzahl “geriatrischer” Probleme scheint eine möglichst frühzeitige interdisziplinäre postoperative Versorgung mit noch engerer Kooperation von Geriatrie und Unfallchirurgie von besonderer Priorität.

As the majority of the patients are frail, clinical treatment is complicated by “geriatric” problems. Thus, improved interdisciplinary care, with close cooperation between geriatricians and surgeons might result in a better functional outcome.
