The European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica (EPICA), which was partly supported by the European Commission, notably helped to obtain full documentation of the climatic and atmospheric record archived in Antarctic ice and compared it with that of Greenland — thereby revealing precious information about natural climate variability and mechanisms of rapid climatic changes during the last ice age.

Le projet EPICA (European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica), en partie soutenu par la Commission européenne, a largement contribué à obtenir une documentation complète sur l'histoire climatique et atmosphérique archivée dans les glaces de l'Antarctique. Il a pu comparer ces données avec celles recueillies au Groenland, révélant ainsi des informations précieuses sur la variabilité naturelle du climat et les mécanismes de changement climatique rapide durant le dernier âge glaciaire.

Projekt EPICA (European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica), dofinansowany ze środków Komisji Europejskiej, był w szczególności pomocny w zgromadzeniu pełnej dokumentacji na temat danych klimatycznych i atmosferycznych zarchiwizowanych w antarktycznym lodzie i porównanie jej z tą dotyczącą Grenlandii – w ten sposób ujawnione zostały cenne informacje o naturalnej zmienności klimatu i mechanizmach szybkich zmian klimatycznych w czasie ostatniej epoki lodowej.
