Following a position as Combat Officer Sea Training Pacific, Cmdre Lloyd was appointed as Executive Officer aboard HMCS Ottawa and deployed as an integral member of the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Battlegroup on OPERATION Mercator in the Arabian gulf region.

Il a par la suite joint les rangs du Centre d'instruction des officiers de marine à Esquimalt avant d'être de nouveau affecté à bord d'un navire, en l'occurrence le NCSM Calgary, comme officier de combat.
