All treatments are symptomatic and are aimed at correcting the consequence of the disease -the curved spine- since the underlying cause is unknown. Since 1993, with the publication of Dr Royo-Salvador’s doctoral thesis, a new etiological treatment has been designed which acts on the cause of the disease.

Desde el 1993, con la publicación de la tesis doctoral del Dr. Royo Salvador, relacionando la tracción caudal de todo el sistema nervioso por el Filum terminale, como causa de la Platibasia – entre otras enfermedades -, se ha diseñado un nuevo tratamiento etiológico, puesto que al seccionar quirúrgicamente el filum terminale se elimina la fuerza de tracción medular caudal responsable.
