Article 1 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which defines persons with disabilities, has been taken into account in the Social Protection Code. Under the Code a person with disabilities means a person with long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments that limit his or her opportunities for full and effective participation in society (Code, art. 1, para. 3).

El artículo 1 de la Convención sobre los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad, en el que figura la definición de "persona con discapacidad", se ha incorporado al Código de Protección Social de la Población: se entiende por "persona con discapacidad" toda aquella que tenga deficiencias físicas, mentales, intelectuales o sensoriales a largo plazo que puedan limitar su participación plena y efectiva en la sociedad (artículo 1, párrafo 3, del Código).

Статья 1 Конвенции о правах инвалидов, дающая определение понятию "инвалид", имплементирована в Кодексе Туркменистана о социальной защите населения: инвалид – лицо с устойчивыми физическими, психическими, интеллектуальными или сенсорными нарушениями, вследствие которых у него ограничены возможности полного и эффективного участия в жизни общества (пункт 3 статьи 1 Кодекса).
