والتقت بيانات أعضاء المجلس بشأن النقاط التالية: ضرورة تسوية الصراع في إطار بروتوكول لوساكا لعام 1994؛ توجيه نداء إلى الاتحاد الوطني للاستقلال التام لأنغولا (يونيتا) كي يوقف أعماله العدائية، لا سيما ضد المجتمع المدني، ويوافق على عقد محادثات مع الحكومة لتحقيق السلام؛ دعوة الحكومة إلى تحسين الظروف المعيشية للمشردين داخليا، وإعادة بناء الهياكل الأساسية، وتحسين الحصول على المساعدة الإنسانية، ووضع برامج لكفالة احترام حقوق الإنسان للشعب الأنغولي.

The statements by members of the Council converged on the following points: the need to settle the conflict in the framework of the 1994 Lusaka Protocol; an appeal to the União Nacional para a Independência Total de Angola (UNITA) to cease its hostilities, especially against civil society, and agree to hold talks with the Government to bring about peace; and an invitation to the Government to improve the living conditions of internally displaced persons, rebuild infrastructure, improve access to humanitarian assistance and establish programmes to ensure respect for the human rights of the Angolan people.

Las intervenciones de los miembros del Consejo de Seguridad convergieron en torno a los siguientes puntos: la necesidad de resolver el conflicto en el marco del Protocolo de Lusaka de 1994; el llamado a la UNITA para que cese las hostilidades, en especial en contra de la sociedad civil, y se comprometa en un diálogo con el Gobierno para alcanzar la paz; la invitación al Gobierno para que mejore las condiciones de vida de las personas internamente desplazadas, reconstruya la infraestructura, mejore el acceso de la asistencia humanitaria y establezca programas para velar por el respeto de los derechos humanos del pueblo angoleño.

Les interventions des membres du Conseil de sécurité ont porté sur la nécessité de résoudre le conflit dans le cadre du Protocole de Lusaka de 1994; l’appel lancé à l’UNITA pour qu’elle mette fin à ses menées hostiles, en particulier à l’encontre de la société civile, et s’engage dans un dialogue avec le Gouvernement afin de parvenir à la paix; et la demande adressée au Gouvernement pour qu’il améliore les conditions de vie des personnes déplacées à l’intérieur du pays, reconstruise les infrastructures, facilite l’accès à l’aide humanitaire et organise des programmes qui permettent d’assurer le respect des droits fondamentaux du peuple angolais.

В выступлениях членов Совета Безопасности затрагивались следующие вопросы: необходимость урегулирования конфликта в рамках Лусакского протокола 1994 года; призыв к Национальному союзу за полную независимость Анголы (УНИТА) прекратить боевые действия, особенно против гражданского общества, и согласиться на проведение переговоров с правительством в целях установления мира; обращенный к правительству призыв улучшить условия жизни перемещенных внутри страны лиц, восстановить инфраструктуру, улучшить доступ для гуманитарной помощи и учредить программы по обеспечению уважения прав человека населения Анголы.
