Recalling the increasing importance of desert dust as a significant climate and weather modulator, and the role of forest fires in the generation of greenhouse gases, a presentation was made by the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing of the National Observatory of Athens (Greece) on the use of Earth observation techniques to monitor smoke dispersion, dust concentrations and dust-atmosphere interactions in the greater Mediterranean region.

Rappelant l’importance croissante des poussières désertiques et de leurs conséquences importantes sur le climat et les phénomènes météorologiques ainsi que le rôle des incendies de forêts dans les émissions de gaz à effet de serre, l’Institut d’astronomie, d’astrophysique, des applications spatiales et de télédétection de l’Observatoire national d’Athènes (Grèce) a présenté un exposé sur l’utilisation des techniques d’observation de la Terre afin d’étudier la dispersion des fumées, la concentration en poussières et leur interaction avec l’atmosphère à l’échelle de la région méditerranéenne.

В свете того, что пыль пустыни оказывает растущее влияние на климат и погоду, а также с учетом роли лесных пожаров в выбросе парниковых газов, представитель Института астрономии, астрофизики, космической техники и дистанционного зондирования Афинской национальной обсерватории (Греция) выступил с докладом, посвященным использованию методов наблюдения Земли для мониторинга рассеивания дыма, концентрации пыли и взаимодействия атмосферы и пыли в районе Большого Средиземноморья.
