The David L. Pitcher building will house the Canadian Air Defence Sector, 21 Aerospace Control and Warning Squadron, and several other units essential to 22 Wing North Bay. NORAD is a bi-national Canadian and American command that employs a network of space-, air- and ground-based sensors, air-to-air refuelling tankers and fighter aircraft, and controlled by a sophisticated command and control network in order to deter, detect and defend against aerial threats that originate outside or within North American airspace. -30- Note to Editors:

L'immeuble David L. Pitcher abritera le Secteur de la défense aérienne du Canada, le 21e Escadron de contrôle et d'alerte (Aérospatiale) et plusieurs autres unités indispensables à la 22e Escadre North Bay. Le NORAD est un commandement binational (Canada et États‐Unis) qui utilise des capteurs spatiaux, aériens et terrestres ainsi que des avions ravitailleurs et des chasseurs, contrôlés par un réseau perfectionné de commandement et de contrôle, pour décourager, détecter et repousser les attaques aériennes provenant de l'intérieur ou de l'extérieur de l'espace aérien nord‐américain.
