Dieses bedeutende Engagement wird durch folgende Umstände gerechtfertigt: die politische Bedeutung Jordaniens für die Stabilität in der Europäischen Nachbarschaft, die politische Assoziierung und die wirtschaftliche Integration des Landes mit der EU, wie sie im am 1. Mai 2002 in Kraft getretenen Assoziierungsabkommen zwischen den beiden Seiten zum Ausdruck kommt, schließlich die schwierige wirtschaftliche Situation, mit der Jordanien nach wie vor konfrontiert ist, insbesondere als Folge der Konflikte in Syrien und im Irak und der Präsenz einer großen Zahl syrischer Flüchtlinge.

This significant commitment is justified by: the political importance of Jordan for the stability in the European Neighbourhood; the political association and economic integration of the country with the EU as reflected by the Association Agreement between the two sides that entered into force on 1 May 2002; as well as the challenging economic situation that Jordan continues to face, notably as a result of the conflicts in Syria and Iraq and the presence of large numbers of Syrians in the country.

L’ampleur de cet engagement est justifiée par l’importance politique de la Jordanie pour la stabilité du voisinage européen, par l’association politique et l’intégration économique du pays avec l’UE, comme le montre l’accord d'association entre les deux parties entré en vigueur le 1er mai 2002, ainsi que par la situation exceptionnellement difficile à laquelle la Jordanie reste confrontée, notamment du fait des conflits en Syrie et en Irak et de la présence sur son territoire d’un grand nombre de réfugiés syriens.
