Born as an appendix of Palazzo del PodestÃ, it gained its name from King Enzo di Sardegna, welcomed here by the state from 1249 until his death (14 March 1272). Since then, this impressive gothic building in front of Piazza Del Nettuno has been know as Palazzo Re Enzo.
