ونظرا لمقاطعة الجلسات من جانب أعضاء البرلمان المنتمين إلى التيار الوطني الحر وحزب الله، لم يتمكن البرلمان من انتخاب رئيس جديد نظرا لعدم اكتمال النصاب القانوني، وبالتالي ظل المنصب شاغرا.

Owing to the boycott of the sessions by parliamentarians from the Free Patriotic Movement and Hizbullah, the Parliament has failed to elect a new president because the sessions have lacked a quorum, and the position has consequently remained vacant.
