Hieraus folgt, daß jeder Quantentreffer am Sehpigment den gleichen Beitrag zur Reizantwort zum Rezeptorpotential liefert unabhängig vom jeweiligen Metarhodopsingehalt der Rhabdomerenmembran und weiterhin, daß das Metarhodopsin M 560 im Rhabdomer wie ein Schirmpigment wirkt (Abb. 19a, b).

Hence follows that on the one hand each absorbed quantum supplies the receptor potential with the same amount, irrespective of the metarhodopsin-rhodopsin concentration of the rhabdomere membrane present, and on the other hand it provides automatic self-screening by increasing metarhodopsin concentration (Fig. 19a, b).
