Since 2009, interbudgetary transfers have been made from the federal budget to the budgets of those constituent entities of the Russian Federation where the peoples of the North traditionally reside, in support of the economic and social development of those peoples. Over the period 2009-2016 these transfers totalled 2,117 million roubles).
