UNESCO cooperates closely with UNODC, INTERPOL, the World Customs Organization, the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law, the Security Management Team, the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property and non-governmental organizations, such as the International Council on Monuments and Sites, the International Council of Museums, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions and the International Council on Archives to further improve coordination between that network of partners and to promote activities aimed at combating the illicit traffic of cultural heritage at the international level, as well as at the local level through regional entities, such as the European Union, and national services.
