La biodiversité est un sujet important au 21e siècle et après avoir participé financièrement à l’expédition scientifique Santo 2006 le Conseil d’Administration de la Stavros Niarchos Foundation a approuvé une donation pour l’initiative intitulée « La Planète Revisitée » où des opérations marines et terrestres vont se concentrer sur les zones les plus menacées de la biodiversité à Madagascar et au Mozambique.
