কেশবের এ নতুন সংরক্ষণশীলতা এবং ব্রাহ্ম সমাজে তার সম্পূর্ণ কর্তৃত্ব সমাজে ভিন্নমতাবলম্বী সৃষ্টি করে। ফলে বিচ্ছিন্নতাবাদীগণ ১৮৭৪ সালে 'সমদর্শী' (উদারপন্থি) দল গঠন করে এবং ১৮৭৭ সালে শিবনাথ শাস্ত্রীর নেতৃত্বে 'সমদর্শী সভা' গড়ে ওঠে।

This new form of Keshab's conservatism and his absolute authority on the Brahma Samaj led the dissenters in the Samaj to form Samadarshi (liberal) group in 1874 and Samadarshi Sabha in 1877 under shibnath shastri which demanded constitutional rights.
