ডেটা লেবেল সিস্টেমকে একটি ত্রুটি শব্দ বা কোন ডিগ্রী গণনা করতে দেয় যার ফলে সিস্টেমটি লেবেল উৎপাদন করতে ব্যর্থ হয়, যা তখন শেখার প্রক্রিয়াটি সংশোধন করতে (প্রতিক্রিয়াটি হ্রাস / কমিয়ে আনতে) ব্যবহার হয়।
