For noncognitive items, the components of an item analysis include analysis of the frequency of response to each option, examination of the correlations among items, assessment of the contribution of each item to the reliability, or consistency of the total score, and comparison of the item means of those with high and low levels of the construct. For both item types, examination of item wording is an important component of an item analysis.
