Wir wissen, daß das II. Vatikanische Konzil vor 20 Jahren die besondere Aufgabe hatte, das Selbstverständnis der Kirche zu wecken und ihr durch eine innere Erneuerung einen neuen missionarischen Impuls für die Verkündigung der bleibenden Botschaft des Heils, des Friedens und der gegenseitigen Eintracht unter den Völkern und Nationen zu geben, die alle Grenzen sprengt, die unseren Planeten noch teilen, der durch den Willen Gottes, seines Schöpfers und Erlösers, dazu bestimmt ist, eine gemeinsame Wohnstatt für die ganze Menschheitsfamilie zu sein.

We know that the Second Vatican Council, twenty years ago, had as one of its principal tasks that of reawakening the self-awareness of the Church and, through her interior renewal, of impressing upon her a fresh missionary impulse for the proclamation of the eternal message of salvation, peace and mutual concord among peoples and nations, beyond all the frontiers that yet divide our planet, which is intended by the will of God the Creator and Redeemer to be the common dwelling for all humanity.

Sabemos que el Concilio Vaticano II, hace veinte años, tuvo como objetivo principal el de despertar la autoconciencia de la Iglesia y, mediante su renovación interior, darle un nuevo impulso misionero en el anuncio del eterno mensaje de salvación, de paz y de reciproca concordia entre los pueblos y naciones, por encima de todas las fronteras que todavía dividen nuestro planeta destinado por voluntad de Dios creador y redentor, a ser morada común para toda la humanidad.

Nous savons que le Concile Vatican II, il y a vingt ans, eut comme tâche principale de réveiller la conscience que l'Eglise a d'elle-même et, grâce à son renouvellement intérieur, de lui donner une nouvelle impulsion missionnaire en vue de l'annonce du message éternel de salut, de paix et d'entente mutuelle entre les peuples et les nations, par-delà toutes les frontières qui divisent encore notre planète destinée à être une demeure commune pour toute l'humanité par la volonté de Dieu créateur et rédempteur.
