Since the Middle Ages, the stone bridge was lined with three buildings: At the south stood a tower with a door at the base, near which stood the pontoneer's house; in the north a chapel, known as Notre-Dame-du-Pont, and a small hospital then faced on each side of the roadway.

Dès le Moyen Âge, le pont de pierre était jalonné de trois constructions : au sud s’élevait une tour percée à sa base d’une porte, près de laquelle se tenait la maison du pontonnier ; au nord une chapelle, connue sous le vocable de Notre-Dame-du-Pont, ainsi qu’un petit hôpital se faisaient face de chaque côté du tablier.
