A method for decoding a multi-layer video according to one embodiment comprises steps of: acquiring an NAL unit from a bitstream of an encoded image; acquiring, from a parameter included in the NAL unit, layer information used in common for decoding encoded data of a base layer and an enhancement layer; and decoding the encoded data by means of the layer information to reconstruct the multi-layer image, wherein the parameter can be characterized by representing, in two or more bits, any one item of information from among: information regarding the profile, tier and level of the layers in the multi-layers; information regarding the form of phase alignment of luma sample grids between the layers of the multi-layers; information regarding the form of alignment of picture types between the layers of the multi-layers; and information characterizing a layer set to be decoded.

일 실시 예에 따른 멀티 레이어 비디오 복호화 방법은 부호화된 영상의 비트스트림으로부터 NAL 유닛을 획득하는 단계, 상기 NAL 유닛에 포함된 파라미터로부터 기본 레이어 및 향상 레이어의 부호화 데이터를 복호화 하기 위해 공통적으로 사용되는 레이어 정보를 획득하는 단계, 상기 레이어 정보를 이용하여 상기 부호화 데이터를 복호화하여 상기 멀티 레이어 영상을 복원하는 단계를 포함하고, 상기 파라미터는 상기 멀티 레이어를 구성하는 레이어들에 대한 프로파일(profile), 티어(tier), 레벨(level)에 대한 정보, 상기 멀티 레이어를 구성하는 레이어들 간의 루마 샘플 그리드(luma sample grid)의 위상(phase) 정렬 형태에 대한 정보, 상기 멀티 레이어를 구성하는 레이어들 간의 픽처 타입 정렬 형태에 대한 정보, 복호화하고자 하는 레이어 셋을 특정하는 정보 중 어느 하나의 정보를 2비트 이상을 사용하여 나타내는 것을 특징으로 할 수 있다.
