Das abgespeicherte Bitmuster des Textzeichens wird mit dieser Bitfolge verknüpft, indem immer dann, wenn im abgespeicherten Bitmuster für das betreffende Pixel das bit 0 vorliegt, keine Änderung erfolgt, und immer dann, wenn im abgespeicherten bit für das betreffende Pixel das Bit eins vorliegt, eine zwei-bit enthaltende, die gewünschte Vordergrundfarbe festlegende Bitfolge erzeugt und im Videospeicher abgespeichert wird.

The stored text character bit pattern is linked to this bit sequence so that whenever there is the bit 0 in the stored bit pattern for the pixel concerned, no change is made and whenever there is the bit 1 in the stored bit for the pixel concerned, a bit sequence containing two bits establishing the desired foreground colour is generated and stored in the video store.
