كما أسهمت الندوة الدولية المنظمة في إطار التحضير للحوار الرفيع المستوى بشأن الهجرة الدولية والتنمية، الذي عقدته الجمعية العامة في أيلول/سبتمبر 2006، إسهاما كبيرا في نجاح الحوار بتوفير منتدى غير رسمي تسنى فيه للخبراء والمسؤولين الحكوميين الالتقاء لمناقشة القضايا المطروحة بطريقة تفاعلية.

The International Symposium, organized in preparation for the High-level Dialogue on International Migration and Development held by the General Assembly in September 2006, also made a significant contribution to the success of the Dialogue by providing an informal forum where experts and Government officials could meet to discuss the issues in an interactive way.
