NMDA receptor NR1 levels in whole hippocampus were not affected 24 h after ischemia, but the levels of the subunit phosphorylated at the protein kinase A (PKA) site, pNR1 (Ser897), were significantly increased, and this increase was prevented by the same 8-OH-DPAT dose, a probable consequence of the increased phosphatase 1 (PT1) enzyme activity found in ischemic gerbils pretreated with the 5-HT1A receptor agonist.

Los niveles de la subunidad NR1 del receptor NMDA en el hipocampo no se vieron afectados 24 horas después del daño, pero los niveles de esta subunidad fosforilada en el sitio de fosforilación de la proteína kinasa A (PKA), pNR1 (Ser897), se encontraron significativamente aumentados a este tiempo. Dicho aumento fue prevenido por 8-OH-DPAt, probablemente como consecuencia del incremento en la actividad enzimática de la proteínfosfatasa 1 (PP1) encontrado en los animales isquémicos pretratados con el agonista 5-HT1A.
