وشملت مبادرات الأمومة الآمنة اشتراك اليونيسيف وصندوق الأمم المتحدة للسكان ومنظمة الصحة العالمية في نشر المبادئ التوجيهية المتعلقة برصد مدى توافر واستخدام خدمات التوليد وكذلك إصدار دليل للأمومة الآمنة وُزع على موظفي اليونيسيف في الميدان.

Safe motherhood initiatives have included the joint publication in 1997 by UNICEF, UNFPA and WHO of guidelines for monitoring the availability and use of obstetric services, as well as the production of a safe motherhood guide, which was distributed to UNICEF field officers.

Una de las iniciativas sobre la maternidad sin riesgo fue la publicación de las directrices para supervisar la disponibilidad y utilización de los servicios de obstetricia, realizada en 1997 en forma conjunta por el UNICEF, el FNUAP y la OMS, así como la elaboración de una guía sobre la maternidad sin riesgo que se distribuyó a las oficinas sobre el terreno del UNICEF.

Au nombre des initiatives concernant la maternité sans danger figurent une publication conjointe de l’UNICEF, du FNUAP et de l’OMS, parue en 1997 sous le titre Guidelines for Monitoring the Availability and Use of Obstetrics Services, et un ouvrage intitulé Safe Motherhood Guide, qui a été distribué au personnel de l’UNICEF en poste dans les différents pays.
