Im Bereich der Fernlehre haben sich Vertreter von zehn Netzen, darunter EADTU (Europäischer Verband der Fernuniversitäten) und EFECOT (Europäische Föderation für den Unterricht für Kinder der reisenden Berufsbevölkerung), zusammengefunden und einen Verbindungsausschuss der europäischen Netze für offenen Unterricht und Fernlehre (,Liaison Committee of the European Open and Distance Learning Networks") gegründet [17].
