وتتمثل أهدافه ومقاصده الرئيسية في ما يلي: ترويج الإصلاحات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية بوصفها وسائل تؤدي إلى تنمية المجتمع الدولي؛ تعزيز دور علماء الاقتصاد على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي من أجل تحقيق التنمية البشرية المستدامة؛ المشاركة في وضع المشاريع الوطنية والدولية وتنفيذها؛ العمل على تبادل المعلومات والرسائل في مختلف حقول الاقتصاد والعلم والتكنولوجيا على نطاق دولي واسع؛ تبادل عام للأفكار والخبرات وطرائق الإدارة على المستويين الكلي والجزئي؛ توسيع نطاق التعاون مع المنظمات والاتحادات الوطنية والدولية؛ زيادة التعريف بمبادئ الأمم المتحدة وأنشطتها.

and purposes of the International Union of Economists are: promotion of economic and social reforms as instruments of development of the international community; enhancement of the role at national and international levels for Sustainable Human Development; participation in the development and implementation of national and international projects; ensuring of wide international exchange of information and communication in different spheres of economy, science and technology; all-round exchange of ideas, experience and management at macro and micro levels; expansion of the cooperation with national and international organizations, unions; promotion of knowledge of the principles and activities of the UNITED NATIONS.

Las principales metas y objetivos de la Unión Internacional de Economistas son los siguientes: promover las reformas económicas y sociales como instrumentos de desarrollo de la comunidad internacional; fortalecer el papel del desarrollo humano sostenible a nivel nacional e internacional; participar en la elaboración y ejecución de proyectos nacionales e internacionales; asegurar un amplio intercambio internacional de información y comunicación en las diferentes esferas de la economía, la ciencia y la tecnología; intercambiar ideas, experiencias y técnicas de gestión a nivel macroeconómico y microeconómico; ampliar la cooperación con organizaciones nacionales e internacionales y sindicatos; y promover el conocimiento de los principios y actividades de las Naciones Unidas.
