A device for measuring humidity content in earth and snow comprises a detector (1) of cosmic-ray neutrons passing through the earth, placed in the earth at a certain depth, a detector (2) of cosmic-ray neutrons placed above the earth at a height exceeding the maximum thickness of the snow or the vegetable layer and at a distance from the detector (1) not exceeding the neutron absorption mean free path in the atmosphere, and a detector (3) of gamma-ray quanta of the background radiation, placed on the earth surface at a distance from the detector (1) not exceeding the neutron absorption mean free path in the earth.
