وفي ضوء ذاكرة التاريخ الطويلة، لا سيما في ما يخص جدلية الحركة/الالتقاء/التفاعل بين الشعوب التي قامت عليها جميع الحضارات والثقافات، اقترح، حتى لا تكون الهوية حاجزاً بل عاملا إيجابيا للحوار، استحداث فهم جديد للهوية (العرقية أو الثقافية أو الروحانية)، التي لم يعُد ينظر إليها كمعزل أو كمنغلق، وإنما كمفهوم يُنفذ ويُطبق كعملية، وكالتقاء وكأطروحة دينامية.

In the light of the lessons learned from history, and particularly the movement/convergence/interaction dialectic between peoples which has shaped all civilizations and cultures, the Special Rapporteur has suggested, with a view to ensuring that identity is not an obstacle to but a factor that enables dialogue, that a new understanding of (ethnic, cultural or spiritual) identity should be promoted, whereby it is no longer viewed as a ghetto or place of confinement, but is understood, accepted and put into practice as a process, a coming together, a dynamic synthesis.

Teniendo en cuenta los antecedentes históricos, y en particular la dialéctica movimiento/encuentro/interacción entre los pueblos que ha estructurado todas las civilizaciones y culturas, el Relator propone, para que la identidad no sea un obstáculo sino un factor favorable al diálogo, una nueva comprensión de la identidad (ética, cultural o espiritual) que no se conciba ya como un gueto o un encierro, sino que se comprenda, asuma y practique como un proceso, un encuentro, una síntesis dinámica.

À la lumière de la longue mémoire de l’histoire, et notamment de la dialectique mouvement/rencontre/interactions entre peuples qui a structuré toutes les civilisations et cultures, il a proposé, pour que l’identité ne soit pas un obstacle mais un facteur favorable au dialogue, de promouvoir une nouvelle compréhension de l’identité (ethnique, culturelle ou spirituelle), non plus conçue comme un ghetto ou un enfermement, mais comprise, assumée et pratiquée comme un processus, une rencontre, une synthèse dynamique.

В свете долгой истории человечества, и в частности диалектики переселения/сближения/взаимодействия народов, которая формировала все цивилизации и культуры, он предлагает, с тем чтобы самобытность была не препятствием, а благоприятным фактором для диалога, развивать новое понимание самобытности (этнической, культурной или духовной), не воспринимать больше самобытность как своего рода "гетто" или замкнутость, но понимать, воспринимать и на практике учитывать ее как процесс сближения и динамичного синтеза.
