كما صدق السودان على اتفاقية جنيف بشان حماية المدنيين في وقت الحرب لعام والتي نصت المادة 24 منها على تدابير خاصة لصالح الأطفال أوقات النزاعات، لضمان عدم إهمال الأطفال دون الخامسة عشرة من العمر والذين تيتموا، أو افترقوا عن عائلاتهم بسبب الحرب، وتيسير إعالتهم وممارسة دينهم وتعليمهم في جميع الأحوال، ويُعهد بأمر تعليمهم إذا أمكن إلى أشخاص ينتمون إلى التقاليد الثقافية ذاتها وإيوائهم في بلد محايد طوال مدة القرارات المتعلقة بذلك.

The Sudan has also ratified the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (1949), article 24 of which provides for special measures for children in time of conflict to ensure that children under 15, who are orphaned or are separated from their families as a result of the war, are not left to their own resources, and that their maintenance, the exercise of their religion and their education are facilitated in all circumstances.

El Sudán ha ratificado igualmente el Convenio de Ginebra relativo a la protección de personas civiles en tiempo de guerra, cuyo artículo 24 dispone las medidas especiales que se deberán adoptar a favor de los niños en tiempos de conflicto a fin de garantizar que los menores de quince años huérfanos o separados de sus familias a causa de la guerra no queden desamparados, así como para proveerlos de manutención y facilitarles la práctica de su religión y la educación en todos los casos.
