Art, like the Gospel episode, would thus bring about the multiplication of the loaves and fishes (here standing for material possessions). The only difference is that the starting point is not a few loaves and fishes that multiply in order to feed a crowd, but rather the opposite: thousands of possible forms of loaves and fishes which each artist rigorously reduces to just a few, but which almost miraculously end up feeding many.

El arte vendría a producir, como el suceso evangélico, la multiplicación de los panes y de los peces (que están aquí por las posesiones materiales), solo que su punto de partida no son unos pocos panes y algunos peces que se multiplican para dar de comer a una muchedumbre, sino más bien al revés: miles de posibilidades de formas de panes y peces que, disciplinadamente, son reducidas por cada artista a unas pocas –pero que, casi milagrosamente, acaban alimentando a muchos–.
